Hi, I’m Wanda Van Eybergen
Former investment banker, with a degree in mathematics, cycling enthusiast and avid reader, I became obsessed with nutrition when my mother in law was diagnosed with Early Onset Alzheimers. The genetic component of this terrible disease made me worry for my husband and sons. If it's in your genes, it must be your destiny, right? And there's no medication for Alzheimers so there's nothing you can do, right? In keeping with my studious, inquisitive nature that always has to get to the bottom of things, I set off to learn if that was the case, and what could be done. And I learnt our genes don't have to dictate our future, we can modify their expression through diet and lifestyle. These factors - nutrition, exercise, sleep, stress management - have a huge impact on our lives and can determine if we get a chronic disease or not. I was able to apply what I learnt and see its effects first hand. I completely changed the way I ate, and was fascinated with how much mental clarity came with the changes, I had not even realized I had slipped into the old adage of blaming age for my increasing forgetfulness and my decreasing energy. I lost weight I didn't even know I had to lose, and got leaner and stronger. So even though I'm aging as we all are and seeing many of its unavoidable effects, I feel fitter in my 50s than I did in my 30s.
I decided to get certified so I could help others find their path to feeling good, feeling fit and not worrying about chronic disease. The sharp increase over the last decades in chronic diseases including auto immune diseases, cancer, and CVD just to mention a few, can be associated with our nutrition and lifestyle. But it's not so easy to make changes, specially if you actually enjoy things that unbeknownst to you are hurting you. My goal is to guide you to metabolic health, where you feel better and have better odds of avoiding chronic disease, and to do this in an easy step by step process that is sustainable and easy to understand.
My Approach
We’ll start with an initial consultation where we explore where you are and what got you here. We look deep into the roots of any issue you may face, and see how to address them. We discuss goals as well as non negotiables. I will then come up with a plan making sure it’s something you can do. And we’ll go from there, assessing and tracking to see what’s working, and I’ll recommend necessary modifications and things to add or subtract as we go along. We’ll be in constant contact.
